This role involves preparing detailed cost estimates for structural steel projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and project requirements. The estimator will collaborate with clients, engineers, and project managers to ensure accurate and competitive bids. Responsibilities:
Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and structural steel drawings to determine project scope.
Prepare detailed cost estimates, including material, labor, and equipment costs.
Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure competitive pricing.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure accurate estimates and resolve discrepancies.
Use estimating software and tools to generate bids and proposals.
Stay updated on market pricing for steel materials, fabrication, and erection costs.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.
Ensure estimates comply with company policies, industry standards, and contractual requirements.
Assist in preparing bid proposals, contracts, and project budgets.
Maintain organized records of estimates, RFQs, and bid submissions.
Collaborate with estimating team.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience structural steel estimating.
Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication, erection, and construction methods.
Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Tekla EPM, FabSuite, Onscreen Takeoff or similar).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
Familiarity with industry standards (AISC, AWS, OSHA) and project management principles.
