Haugland Group, a privately-owned Long Island, New York-based civil infrastructure and energy construction company has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Associate Buyer to join our team.
The Associate Buyer will be a part of the team that purchases goods and services to support projects that the company has been awarded A focus of this position will be concentrated on corporate travel. It will involve overseeing and optimizing Haugland Group and its affiliates business travel program.

Key Functions:
Crafting travel policies and procedures: develop comprehensive policies and guidelines that govern employee travel. These policies ensure consistency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with legal and safety regulations, as well as travel needs of the business.
Negotiating contracts: establish partnerships with airlines, hotels, and ither travel suppliers to secure competitive rates and favorable terms for HG. These negotiated contracts can significantly reduce travel expenses.
Analyzing travel data: Leverage advanced analytics tools to analyze travel data and identify opportunities for cost savings. By monitoring travel patterns, expenditure trends, and performance metrics, they can make informed recommendations to optimize travel program.
Providing travel reports and data insights: by generating comprehensive travel reports that offer valuable insights into travel expenditure, compliance rates, and travel behavior. These reports help management make data-driven decisions and identify areas for improvement.
Work with travel leads: to create a cohesive team approach.
Other Duties: Assist with other functions in the day-today activity of the Procurement department.
Qualifications:
Strong analytical and quantitative skills to analyze sales data and identify trends.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with vendors and internal teams.
Strong organizational and time management abilities to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Ability to negotiate effectively with vendors to secure favorable terms and pricing.
Proficiency in relevant software, such as inventory management systems and spreadsheets.
Knowledge of retail math and metrics to understand sales performance and pricing strategies.
Some experience in retail, merchandising, or purchasing is often preferred.
A bachelor's degree in business or a related field is often required
