The City of Camden is accepting applications for the Bookkeeper I position in the Finance Department. The Bookkeeper I performs specialized clerical work of moderate complexity, including maintaining clerical records.
The Bookkeeper I is under the general supervision of the City Treasurer and is responsible for work of considerable difficulty involving the application of basic bookkeeping skills and maintaining financial accounts and records, including general ledger accounts by fund and all revenue and expenditure accounts. Work also extends to preparing and processing source documents into computer processing operations.
This individual must thoroughly understand the accounting and computer processing system and be detail-oriented. Work performed includes preparing reports, operating a computer, preparing requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment, and serving as a receptionist. The receptionist answers incoming telephone calls and gives general information in response to public inquiries.
The position requires high school graduation with experience in computer operation, bookkeeping, typing, and other general office work courses.
The starting pay is $14.11 with a complete fringe benefits package. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
