This role requires a seasoned professional with deep industry knowledge to set the strategic direction for our payment strategies. The ideal candidate will evaluate alternative solutions and make pivotal decisions regarding the development or acquisition of new payment technologies. This includes selecting, negotiating, and managing vendors and vendor contracts, creating comprehensive system roadmaps, and setting timelines for large-scale projects, business case development and securing funding. The Director will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure successful implementation and alignment with business objectives. Staying abreast of the latest trends and technologies in the payment industry is essential for driving innovation and informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy :
  • Provide leadership and set the strategic direction to support business processes related to payment systems and project implementation.
  • Oversee the development and integration of both internal and vendor payment platforms.
  • Collaborate with client organizations and stakeholders to evaluate and implement business process changes.
  • Work with leadership to design and develop strategies that drive technological advancement and operational efficiency.
  • Determine ROI, create business cases and secure funding.

Vendor Management :
  • Oversee and maintain relationships with vendors for all payment types, including credit cards, ACH, Bitcoin, cash payments, PayPal, Amazon Pay, reward points, tokenization, refunds, and chargebacks.
  • Lead a team of 5 direct reports and negotiate pricing and terms with payment processors and suppliers.
  • Conduct market research and financial analysis to develop effective negotiation strategies.
  • Monitor and implement new card brand rules and government regulations in coordination with the Technology team.

Payment Strategy :
  • Identify and evaluate innovative and efficient payment solutions, tools, and providers.
  • Stay engaged with the Treasury Payment Processing industry by attending conferences, webinars, and vendor sessions to identify trends and new technologies.
  • Meet with vendors to review new products and services, assessing their benefits and applicability.
  • Collaborate with Payment Operations and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvements through vendor automation and international payment processing.

Administrative Responsibilities :
  • Develop and mentor subordinates while managing financial responsibilities, including business case coordination with clients.
  • Manage merchant IDs across three processors and devise strategies for chargeback recovery.
  • Build and maintain business partner relationships to drive lower cost of acceptance.
  • Serve as Treasury Global Customer Payment SME at each payment source.
  • Develop business cases for strategic roadmap projects.


Job Contribution:

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in payment systems, banking, cash management, vendor management, and payment strategy development, business case development.
  • Strong leadership and strategic planning skills.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale projects and cross-functional technology collaborations.
  • Expertise in market research, financial analysis, and competitor assessments.
  • In-depth knowledge of new card brand rules and government regulations, with the ability to implement mandates effectively.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and experience managing vendor relationships.


Our R-60242 Director-Treasury Payment Ops, earns between $158,200-$237,400 USD Annual, not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
