Job Description:

The Business Systems Analyst III is responsible for analyzing business processes, financial data, systems, and technologies within an organization. This role bridges the gap between business needs and IT solutions by understanding business, financial, and compliance requirements and translating them into technical specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience with financial management, audit readiness, and data analytics, particularly within federal agencies or Department of Defense (DoD) environments. Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps) and robotic process automation (RPA) is strongly preferred.This full time position is 100% on-site in the D.C./Arlington, VA area.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS




  • A Secret Clearance is required and must be maintained for employment.



  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of four to seven (4-7) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience


  • Experience with financial management, audit readiness, or DoD financial reporting is strongly preferred.


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps) and robotic process automation (RPA) tools preferred.


  • Familiarity with DoD financial management, budget execution, and audit compliance tracking is a plus.


  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial and business requirements into technical solutions.





KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following.Other duties may be assigned.




  • Collaborates with stakeholders from various departments to gather and document business and financial requirements. Conducts interviews, workshops, and analysis of existing financial and operational systems to define functional and non-functional requirements.


  • Performs detailed analysis of existing systems, financial processes, and workflows to identify areas for improvement or automation. Assesses system capabilities, financial data flows, integration points, and user interfaces to ensure alignment with business and compliance objectives.


  • Utilizes Microsoft Power BI, Power Automate, and Power Apps to enhance financial reporting, data visualization, and process automation. Develops dashboards and predictive models for tracking financial trends, compliance, and risk management.


  • Works closely with stakeholders, IT teams, and financial management personnel to design solutions that meet business and regulatory requirements. Creates system design documents, wireframes, and prototypes to illustrate proposed solutions and facilitate discussions.


  • Conducts financial data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that enhance decision-making, cost efficiency, and resource allocation. Supports financial risk assessments and recommends mitigation strategies.


  • Participates in system testing activities to validate that the implemented solution meets the defined business, financial, and compliance requirements. Develops test plans, test cases, and performs testing to identify defects or issues.


  • Supports change management efforts by communicating system changes to stakeholders, addressing concerns or resistance, and facilitating training or workshops to ensure smooth adoption of new systems or processes.


  • Assists in audit readiness and risk management efforts by assessing internal controls, vendor oversight, and contract compliance to ensure adherence to audit standards and financial policies. Develops automated alerts and tracking tools for monitoring financial deadlines and escalation processes.


  • Collaborates closely with IT teams such as developers, architects, and project managers to ensure successful implementation of solutions. Provides guidance on business and financial requirements, assists in system configuration or customization, and supports the development of technical specifications.


  • May be involved in project management activities such as creating project plans, tracking progress, and coordinating tasks with various stakeholders. Ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet business and compliance objectives.


  • Communicates effectively with stakeholders at various levels of the organization, including business users, management, IT teams, and financial analysts. Provides training and support to end-users during system implementations or upgrades.


  • Promotes continuous improvement by staying updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in business systems analysis, financial analytics, and audit readiness. Identifies opportunities for process optimization and proposes enhancements to existing financial and business systems.





EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE



Bachelor's degree and a minimum of four to seven (4-7) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS



Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
