Job Description:

Catlin Gabel School in Portland, Oregon is seeking a passionate and dedicated Math Teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year. This full-time (1.0 FTE) position will focus on teaching high school students in our Upper School. Salary and Benefits:
$53,200 - $101,930 per year, based on experience and education level.Competitive benefits package (learn more: School Benefits).

Key Responsibilities:
Teach a variety of Upper School mathematics courses, engaging students with diverse learning styles.Create an inclusive, culturally responsive classroom through class meetings, meaningful student interactions, and clear behavioral expectations.Develop and implement assessments that drive student learning and allow for differentiated instruction.Incorporate technology to enhance mathematical comprehension and problem-solving.Plan and lead hands-on, experiential learning activities to help students apply mathematical concepts in real-world contexts.Serve as a student advisor, supporting personal and academic growth.

Qualifications:
Required: BA in Mathematics or a related field.Preferred: MA in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, ideally in a high school setting.Experience with student-centered and inquiry-based teaching practices.Familiarity with experiential learning, using projects and reflection to deepen student understanding.Knowledge of competency- and standards-based teaching and assessment strategies.Experience in curriculum development and working with adolescent learners.
