Job Description:

Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP) Internships and Fellowships provide paid civilian research opportunities for high school through postdoctoral individuals in U.S. Army Research Labs and Centers. Projects focus on the most current and cutting-edge priorities of the Department of Defense.

Seeking Postdoctoral Fellows for the following projects:

Pulsed Laser Lab (PuLL) Post-Doc (SMDTC001)

The SMDTC Directed Energy Research Division is seeking qualified candidates for experimental and theoretical work examining pulsed laser diagnostics, propagation, and nonlinear interactions with matter. The candidates will be expected to perform basic and applied research with a range of short and ultrashort pulsed lasers in the context of directed energy. Experimental candidates will be expected to assemble, diagnose, and execute experiments with a wide range of pulsed laser systems. Theoretical candidates will be expected to perform modeling and simulation of linear and nonlinear interactions and propagation of pulsed lasers in solid and fluid media. All candidates will be expected to analyze data for publication and presentation to internal Command and Army audiences as well as across DoD and in public fora.

Fiber Amplifier Laser Component Optimization (FALCO) Lab Post-Doc (SMDTC002)

The SMDTC Directed Energy Research Division is seeking qualified candidates for for experimental and theoretical work examining fiber amplifier laser material properties, nonlinear effects, and research into novel fiber laser concepts. The candidates will be expected to perform basic and applied research with a range of components included seed lasers, pump lasers, and doped fiber amplifiers in the context of kilowatt-class directed energy lasers. Experimental candidates will be expected to assemble, diagnose, splice, and execute experiments with monolithic fiber amplifier lasers. Theoretical candidates will be expected to perform modeling and simulation of gain dynamics, material properties, and nonlinear effects in fibers. All candidates will be expected to analyze data for publication and presentation to internal Command and Army audiences as well as across DOD and public conferences.
