As a Black Belt within the Medtronic Memphis Distribution Center team you will be focusing on operational excellence, standardization, simplification and continues improvement. As a Black Belt you are a recognized expert who can work autonomous with limited oversight of a manager. You coach, review and delegate work to lower tier levels.

The Black Belt represents the organization as a primary contact for specific projects and initiatives; communicates with internal and external customers and vendors at various levels to reach understanding or agreement, and influence decision-making. You encourage the need for transformation and change and manage the delivery of new capabilities and provide guidance, coaching and training to other employees within their job area. You feel comfortable in any tier level in the organization.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:


  • Deploy the Medtronic Performance System within the deliver organization the Memphis Distribution Center and any other applicable sites..

  • Develop, implement, and sustain process improvement initiatives utilizing Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

  • Define, design and implement continuous improvement programs and ensure programs are integrated vertically and horizontally across the entire facility in alignment with overarching Medtronic organization.

  • Define improvement projects aligned with business strategies.

  • Analyze improvement programs and potential results.

  • Facilitate and coach improvement and operations teams.

  • Establish and maintain performance metrics to measure program success.

  • Deliver operational excellence training in accordance with MPS up to the level of Green Belt.

  • Facilitate strategy workshops and guidance on strategy deployment.

  • Installs process excellence supports for program governance, project reviews, communications, training, certifications and rewards.

Must-Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree Required

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

Nice to have


  • 5 years' experience in working with process improvement

  • 10 years' experience in Logistics/Distribution

  • Direct, manage and motivate improvement teams.

  • Certified as Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent experience .

  • Problem solving and leadership skills.

  • Process thinking. Overall operational knowledge of distribution and automation activities.

  • Project Management certification and experience and knowledge of performance management is preferred.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$108,000.00 - $162,000.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance , Health Savings Account , Healthcare Flexible Spending Account , Life insurance, Long-term disability leave , Dependent daycare spending account , Tuition assistance/reimbursement , and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match , Short-term disability , Paid time off , Paid holidays , Employee Stock Purchase Plan , Employee Assistance Program , Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums) , and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns. Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
