Context of the job:
The Assistant AD, Video and Content Strategy at the University of Delaware is a valued member within the University and Department of Athletics, Community & Campus Recreation (DACCR), upholding and embracing the departmental mission of Achieving Excellence Together. Reporting to the Senior Associate AD, External Relations, this position will play a critical role in creating, capturing, and producing various forms of video, creative, and digital content that help share the unique stories of Delaware Athletics, Community & Campus Recreation. This position will have a strong emphasis placed on high quality-video storytelling for DACCR. The ideal individual will be a dynamic leader, with a strong background in video production, creative content, and brand building through various forms of storytelling.
Major Responsibilities:
Lead the Video and Content Strategy team, overseeing daily operations, and personnel management.
Supervise the Director of Graphic Design and Creative Content, Assistant Director of Graphic Design and Creative Content, and Associate Director of Creative Video
Oversees the creative direction of DACCR, responsible for the overall look, innovative concepts, creative themes, motion graphic and video standards, video, photo, and motion graphic elements to be used on all DACCR promotional mediums, including but not limited to social media, digital media, web-based content, videoboards, and print advertising.
Ensures the creative video department maintains a cohesive visual identity and consistently produces high-quality creative content.
Work in conjunction with all external units to help drive revenue through creative storytelling initiatives.
Identify unique storylines within DACCR and develop consistent, long-form video content to help share the stories of past and present Blue Hens Responsible for specific varsity sport video coverage as determined by this position in conjunction with the associate director of creative video.
Develop video and photo coverage plan for all varsity home competitions and select external events hosted by DACCR.
Develop and sustain a robust foundation of part-time miscellaneous wage and student workers who have an interest and ability in producing creative content to assist with the execution of content creation across all DACCR needs.
Oversight of the DACCR content studio, including but not limited to scheduling, yearly maintenance, and creative and technological upgrades.
Coordinate organized and dynamic content days to help distribute content in a timely manner for all varsity sports, in conjunction with the communications and creative services, and marketing and engagement teams.
Responsible for Video and Content Strategy budget oversight and regular equipment inventory.
Maintain relationships with campus partners to help align DACCR creative content aspirations within the brand guidelines set by the University.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in sport marketing, sport management, athletic administration, communications, Graphic Design, Digital Media, or a related field. 4 years of relevant experience.
Proven experience in leading and managing full-time staff. Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (photoshop, illustrator, premiere pro, aftereffects, etc.) and other content creation tools.
Exceptional storytelling and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and lead a team simultaneously.
Comfortable working with both Sony and cannon photography and videography equipment.
Knowledge of social media platforms and digital marketing strategies.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Understanding of sports and the ability to capture and anticipate key moments and storylines.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel for select sports to cover athletic events.
