Summary:
Performs magnetic resonance imaging in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.
Responsibilities:
Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.Serves as a Resource for staff members in partnership with the clinical educator.Charges appropriately for all supplies used for procedures.When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.Performs Quality Assurance Testing on Imaging and related equipment.Precepts students or new hires.Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.Performs independently core MR Protocols, complex Neuro cases and anesthesia cases.Provides feedback as a Peer for Performance Evaluations.Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results.

Complexity of Work: This role requires critical thinking skills, effective communication, decisive judgment, and the ability to build and foster positive relationships. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Competent in: Contrast Enhanced MRA Neuro & CSF Flow, Contrast Enhanced body MRA, WARP and Metal Reduction Protocols, MRI Perfusion, MR Conditional Device Screening, and MRI Reconstruction (MIPS, MPRS). Specific to the Breast Center- MRI Guided Biopsies Required Work Experience: Two (2) years of MRI Technologist experience (with a minimum of 6 months at a Memorial Healthcare Hospital). Other Information: **Registered as a Technologist (RT), (RTT) or (NMTCB) and registered in magnetic resonance imaging (MR) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Registered as a Technologist (ARMRIT) - Advance Registry MRI Technologist.
