Job Description:

The Company

Dexcom Corporation (NASDAQ DXCM) is a pioneer and global leader in continuous glucose monitoring (CGM). Dexcom began as a small company with a big dream: To forever change how diabetes is managed. To unlock information and insights that drive better health outcomes. Here we are 25 years later, having pioneered an industry. And we're just getting started. We are broadening our vision beyond diabetes to empower people to take control of health. That means personalized, actionable insights aimed at solving important health challenges. To continue what we've started: Improving human health.

We've already changed millions of lives and we're ready to change millions more. Our future ambition is to become a leading consumer health technology company while continuing to develop solutions for serious health conditions. We'll get there by constantly reinventing unique biosensing-technology experiences. Though we've come a long way from our small company days, our dreams are bigger than ever. The opportunity to improve health on a global scale stands before us.

Meet the team:

The Electrochemistry group within the Sensor Research and Development (R&D) organization designs and develops innovative electrochemical sensor technologies that significantly impact CGM accuracy, reliability, and robustness. The team also supports new product development through electrochemical characterization and validation at both the subsystem and product levels.

As an influential member of the Electrochemistry team, the Senior Scientist will be responsible for identifying and developing next-generation electrochemical techniques and sensor architectures to enhance our best-in-class CGM user experience. The individual is expected to work in collaboration with a diversity of functional areas within R&D, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, and Clinical Affairs to facilitate the continuous improvement of products on the market and define the technology specifications and requirements for future generations in the R&D pipeline. The contributions will help advance diabetes treatment and support Dexcom's mission to "empower people to take control of their health."

Where you come in:

  • You will design and conduct benchtop and in-vivo experiments to evaluate existing and emerging CGM technologies at both component and system levels.

  • You will apply statistical techniques to analyze large datasets, assess system performance, identify key parameters, and understand trade-offs.

  • You will perform design iterations based on scientific principles and recommend designs and technologies that address accuracy, reliability, flexibility, or functionality.

  • You will partner with various functional teams to achieve project milestones in a timely and effective manner, proactively addressing dependencies.

  • You will provide technical leadership in design validation, reliability testing, root cause analysis, and failure mode and effects analysis.

  • You will present findings through oral presentations and written reports to peers and management.

  • You will contribute to intellectual property development by drafting invention disclosures and participating in patent filings.

What makes you successful:

  • You have a degree focused in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • You have a strong technical background in electrochemistry or biosensors.

  • You have an in-depth understanding of mass transport processes at the microscale, redox couples, electrode kinetics, and enzymatic reactions.

  • You have a proven track record of innovation and solving scientific and engineering problems.

  • You have hands-on experience working in a wet laboratory environment.

  • You have prior experience characterizing polymer-based membranes or coatings.

  • You are adept with statistical and data analysis tools such as JMP, Origin, Python, or R.

  • You possess a strong work ethic and excellent organizational skills.

  • You have excellent scientific communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to collaborate effectively.

  • Experience in building potentiostats or galvanostats, particularly embedded potentiostat modules, is a plus.

What you'll get:

  • A front row seat to life changing CGM technology. Learn about our brave #dexcomwarriors community.

  • A full and comprehensive benefits program.
