Job Description:

Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Tooling Engineer in Mossville, IL. The work will be done onsite. This is a long term contract. It can lead to permanent employment with our customer. Compensation is $55/hr including benefits, vision, dental, health insurance, 401K and holiday pay. Cullerton Group will provide sponsorship.

Location: Mossville, IL (Onsite, 5 days/week)

Travel: Up to 30% international

Overview:

This role demands deep expertise in manufacturing, with emphasis on tool and fixture design, as well as broad knowledge of manufacturing technologies. The successful candidate will integrate tool and process design knowledge to enhance the manufacturability of complex parts and components.

The position involves leading tooling projects and coordinating with global teams based in Mexico and India. The objective is to support production facilities worldwide by providing guidance, resolving tooling issues, and driving productivity improvements. This role collaborates across functions to develop effective and economical tooling solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate current and future product/process designs to assess tooling compatibility and identify opportunities for design modifications to enhance production.
  • Involve engineering, procurement, and production teams-internally and at supplier sites-in the approval process to ensure process efficiency, cost control, and quality improvements.
  • Utilize extensive experience to advise suppliers on required tooling, dies, fixtures, etc., to optimize manufacturing operations.
  • Assess existing applications and conduct feasibility studies for new tooling solutions.
  • Integrate new and existing systems and processes, ensuring compatibility and directing adjustments as needed.
  • Follow established protocols and standards regarding safety, cost efficiency, quality, and ergonomics.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics Engineering or related field; or 15+ years of experience in tool and die making.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Project management experience
  • Background in tooling design, heavy fabrication, lifting and rigging, or machine/system integration
  • Familiarity with work holding equipment
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling
  • Exposure to PLC programming, robotics, welding, or machining
  • Experience with new product introduction and continuous improvement practices
  • Involvement in capital projects
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Mechanical hands-on aptitude
  • Spanish or Hindi language skills
