The Data Governance Specialist plays a key role in ensuring the success of enterprise data governance initiatives. This role is responsible for implementing governance policies, driving data stewardship engagement, and operationalizing data quality and metadata management processes. This role acts as the key link between business needs and the technical data designs to meet these needs. This role is skilled at listening deeply to understand core needs and business processes, translating them into the language of data.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and collaborator who excels at coordinating across business and technical teams to ensure the effective adoption of governance best practices. A central focus of this role is establishing and nurturing a Data Steward Community of Practice, ensuring data owners and stewards are empowered with the knowledge, tools, and processes to maintain high data integrity and usability. This role works closely with data engineering, analytics, and business teams to ensure governance frameworks are effectively applied in day-to-day operations.
Essential Functions:
Data Quality & Metadata Management:
Define, implement, and monitor data quality rules and metrics.
Implement metadata management best practices and data cataloging.
Collaborate with data engineers, modelers, and analysts to embed governance practices.
Maintain metadata and data lineage for enhanced discoverability and usability.
Identify and remediate data quality issues with data owners.
Data Systems Analysis:
Capture data-related requirements and processes with business owners.
Maintain business use-cases and data requirements.
Support technical designers in understanding data requirements.
Ensure test cases meet business use-case requirements.
Validate data solutions through user acceptance testing.
Data Steward Community & Stakeholder Coordination:
Establish and grow a Data Steward Community of Practice.
Act as the primary contact for business data stewards.
Mentor junior analysts and provide process guidance.
Develop training and documentation for data stewardship.
Facilitate cross-functional collaboration for data governance alignment.
Familiarity with various data storage types and ETL pipelines.
Experience with structured and unstructured data in cloud and on-prem environments.
Other Requirements:
Ability to travel up to 10%.
Ability to clear required background check.

Compensation & Benefits: Stride, Inc. considers a person's education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee's salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position's level and expected contribution, and the employee's benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.
We anticipate the salary range to be $66,379.50- $170,037.60. The upper end of this range is not likely to be offered, as an individual's compensation can vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Eligible employees may receive a bonus.
