Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Steel Connecticut is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Safety Coordinator. The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Working closely with plant personnel to maintain a robust teammate driven safety culture
Promoting workplace safety by identifying and controlling potential hazards
Developing new and/or reviewing current safety programs to determine their adequacy
Safety and health training and auditing
Helping with safety groups or safety focus within division.
Candidate will perform moderate physical activity such as walking in all areas of a large industrial facility, climbing stairs/fixed ladders, working at an elevated location, standing for prolonged periods of time. The focus of this role is to support the division with reporting metrics, and to be a resource to help drive continuous safety improvement as we strive to become the world's safest steel company. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards always.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.
Manufacturing Experience (Steel preferred)
Experience working with Safety Management Systems & Standards in the steel manufacturing environment.
Medical Training CPR/First Aid or First Responder or EMT
Compensation Data
Compensation for this position is non-exempt and based on experience with hourly rate range starting at $30.89 per hour. Position is eligible for ROA Bonus & Profit Share (if applicable)
