Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Control Engineer to join their team. This role requires the candidate to reside within commuting distance to report onsite to facilities twice a month. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing technical solutions and supporting the development of facilities and antenna subsystems for deep space communications complexes. This role is ideal for candidates residing within commuting distance to the facilities.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the design, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of control equipment for deep space network facilities and antennas.
Conduct complex engineering, design, and analysis tasks utilizing current technology and standards.
Provide engineering support to facilities systems, driving upgrade projects from concept to completion to ensure continuous improvement.
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams including Mechanical (HVAC), Electrical, and Fire Protection project design members.
Ensure all safety objectives and legal requirements are observed in all project work.
Interpret client requirements, address design parameters and engineering problems, and ensure solutions are implemented within budget.
Commission customized products and systems onsite and at customer facilities to ensure functionality.
Document and report project details, including creating user manuals, installation procedures, and test procedures.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited institution in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronic, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in Controls Design and Programming.
Ability to obtain a trusted background check and pass a National Criminal Information Check (NCIC)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with the latest Windows OS.
Experience with general-purpose programming languages like C, C++, or Python.
Understanding of linear and electro-mechanical components, and communication protocols such as I2C, Modbus, and CAN bus.
Basic knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) and various sensor equipment.
Familiarity with analog and discrete inputs/outputs and Ladder logic/PLC programming.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and excellent problem-solving skills.
Effective communication skills and the ability to coordinate with team members and clients effectively.
