Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Power Engineer to join their dynamic team. This position is primarily remote, though the candidate must live within commuting distance to report onsite twice a month. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in sustaining and supporting the development of Power assemblies across multiple facilities, serving a prestigious agency's Deep Space Communications Complexes located in Australia, Spain, and California.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of design, construction, acceptance testing, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of Power Distribution, Generation, and Protection equipment.
Lead project design and implementation for repairing or replacing existing systems, including research and coordination with subcontractors to achieve project milestones.
Conduct Arc Flash Evaluations and Short-circuit studies to ensure power system compliance with NFPA 70E, alongside Coordination and Time Current Curves evaluations.
Troubleshoot unexpected issues during modification projects, and update wiring diagrams, schematics, and documentation to reflect as-built or modified systems.
Provide technical assistance and guidance to operations and maintenance personnel across different time zones, analyzing and resolving system problems.
Ensure compatibility of new power system deliveries with existing building infrastructure and adherence to relevant codes.
Support the Engineering Change Management Board in the development, evaluation, and costing of Engineering Change Requests, and the preparation and delivery of Engineering Change Orders or Modification Kits.
Identify lead times for major electrical equipment and eliminate single point of failure distribution points within the subsystem.
Qualifications:
Must possess a California Professional Engineering (PE) License.
Hold a B.S degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution with an emphasis in Power Engineering and at least 8 years of direct experience in Facility Power Distribution design and fieldwork.
Demonstrated knowledge and adherence to NEC Standards.
Eligibility to obtain a trusted background check and pass a National Criminal Information Check (NCIC); must be a US Citizen and provide proof of citizenship.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, proficient in MS Office Suite, and strong presentation skills.
Ability to provide support across different time zones.
Experience in leading and managing projects involving multiple stakeholders.
Capability to perform thorough analysis and problem-solving in high-pressure situations.
Understanding and application of NFPA, NETA, IEEE, and other relevant codes and standards.
