The Testing & Personalization Engineer for Lands’ End works on the entire e-commerce testing and personalization program. Works with a team of digital analysts and digital merchandisers to execute a complex program of tests impacting all parts of the e-commerce experience from on-site merchandising, enhanced product finding methods, and user experience improvements.


In addition, primary responsibility for executing a wide range of personalization efforts to enhance our customer’s on-line experience. Ensure the required data is fed into our personalization platform, consulting with business users which personalized experiences are technically possible, and executing all experience design, tool setup, and custom coding to ensure these ideas are tested flawlessly.  



  • Work on technical development of front-end framework.

  • Develop test experiences as assigned while being mindful of impact on web site performance, ensuring proper data collection for measurement, and proactively resolving issues. 

  • Ensure all test experiences are thoroughly QA’ed across platforms before launch. 

  • Consult with business owners to identify those personalization opportunities that are likely to have positive impact while balancing development effort. 

  • Specify all required data feeds to maximize personalization opportunity and work with data architect to ensure a prioritized list of data feed developments. 

  • Participate in tagging efforts for new site content, functionality, and tracking implementations. 

  • Maintain positive, collaborative partnerships with internal stakeholders, skillfully juggling conflicting priorities and preserving order through effective project management. 

  • Remain abreast of emerging technologies in testing and personalization by attending industry conferences and events, leveraging opportunities for formal training, and reading relevant on-line forums. 

  • Share technical knowledge and mentor other staff members within broader analytics and e-commerce communities. 



     Skills



    • Front-end development experience: HTML5, JavaScript/JQuery, CSS 

    • An orientation for action with the ability to execute with changing or unclear requirements 

    • A strong team player and relationship builder able to interact with business leaders, creative professionals, and IT colleagues 

    • Strong process and QA orientation with a bias for developing standards and checklists 

    • Excellent command of testing best practices including experimental design, experience development, and measurement strategy 

    • Strong command of relevant Adobe stack including Adobe Analytics, Test, and Launch; certifications in relevant technologies preferred 

    • Works independently on routine tasks and requires limited supervision 

    • Contributes to team projects and collaborates effectively with peers 


    Education & Experience Requirements 



    • Bachelor’s degree in Front End Development, Information Technology, or User Experience Design a relevant field or equivalent experience 

    • Professional certifications are a plus 

    • 2-5 years of relevant professional experience, retail or ecommerce is a plus 

    • Previous experience writing personalization logic for consumer facing applications
