As a Sales Engineer with PenTeleData, you will be the post sales technical side for our fiber customers. You will interact daily with customers as their technical lead in configurations and service implementation as well as interfacing with the PenTeleData Sales and Pre-Sales team. The ability to travel throughout our service footprint as needed is required. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field
Minimum 3 Years’ experience in related field
Established residency in Pennsylvania
Valid PA Driver's License and good driving record
The technical, or “hard skills” we need run the gamut:
Basic networking knowledge including understanding of the TCP/IP protocols, subnetting, IPv6
Basic understanding of IP routing (Static and BGP)
Some understanding of how an HFC network operates from the data side
Some experience with Cisco CLI (IOS, XE, XR) languages and WebUIs (ASDM, CCP)
Familiarity with DHCP and how it works.
Ability to present facts and ideas verbally and written in a logical, sequential, and understandable manner.
Ability to remain technical while using layman terms with non-technical customers.
Must be self-motivated and able to operate with little supervision
The non-technical, or “soft skills” needed include:
Hi-level Project Management Skills - for customer turn-ups and changes
Exceptional Customer Service Skills
Outstanding Troubleshooting Skills – thinking logically through problems
Ability to travel throughout our service footprint
Ability to document findings accurately
Ability to follow procedures and processes but still remain flexible for exceptional cases when they occur
Preferred Skills – these are “nice to have” but definitely not required:
Experience working in Linux environments
Proficiency in Python programming
Network Security experience from designing to implementing policies
Working experience with SDWAN technologies
Understanding NAT and how to configure it on Cisco devices; this includes Static and Dynamic NAT and the ability to explain it to customers
Working knowledge of Cisco Meraki and ASA product line and configuration of VPN's
Understanding of the Cisco ISR product line and Cisco 8000/9000 series
Familiarity with Ethernet and Metro Ethernet standards
