Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the engineering department. This position requires a hands-on leader who can provide technical expertise, ensure process optimization, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The Engineering Manager will coordinate technical support to value stream teams, manage departmental operations, and ensure that quality, safety, and productivity standards are consistently met.

Education and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial, mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in sheet metal fabrication or related industries.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles related to Engineering, resource allocation, human resource modeling, leadership, production methods, labor utilization, and quality management.
  • Computer literacy including proficiency with FabriWin and SolidWorks software
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, interpersonal, and written

Skills and Specifications:
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • Able to meet deadlines and excel in a high paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to motivate, influence and mentor employees
  • Able to successfully interact with customers, suppliers, and co-workers
  • Lean Six Sigma certification or similar process improvement certification.
  • Experience programing punch/laser

Position Responsibilities:
  • Respond promptly to the engineering needs of all Value Stream Teams to ensure smooth production.
  • Coordinate technical support for manufacturing cells, troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor and evaluate current processes to identify areas for optimization and implement improvements.
  • Initiate and facilitate Kaizen events to improve processes in a structured and effective manner.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance safety, quality, and productivity across all departments.
  • Drive lean manufacturing practices and implement process improvements to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
  • Provide direct reports with the tools, training, and resources needed to enhance their performance.
  • Facilitate the development of human resources within the department, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
  • Conduct periodic performance reviews to evaluate employee contributions and provide constructive feedback.
  • Remove obstacles that may prevent the team from achieving their goals and maintaining high productivity.
  • Ensure effective communication across all levels of the organization and within the department.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address engineering challenges and meet customer expectations.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Ensure adherence to the Company Quality Policy and promote a culture of quality and accountability.
  • Monitor and maintain on-time delivery for internal and external customers.
  • Continuously monitor department performance, analyzing data to make informed decisions.
  • Prioritize and facilitate input from the team to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure that problems are addressed thoroughly and efficiently to minimize operational disruptions.
