Managing Director, Financial Instruments and Technology

Kroll is seeking a Managing Director for our Financial Instruments & Technology service line which sits under our Alternative Asset Advisory business. Our Alternative Asset Advisory professionals work on a variety of challenging assignments in which we improve our clients' ability to identify, measure, control, diversify, mitigate, and/or exploit risk. Our team applies sophisticated mathematical models and innovative processes to design and evaluate complex financial instruments and whole loans, drawing upon the latest developments in mathematics, computer science, and finance theory. These approaches are married with applications that apply market experience and current data and conditions. Our clients gain understanding of complex issues and an ability to make decisions based on rigorous analysis and deep expertise, rather than best guesses, resulting in an enhanced ability to achieve their goals.

Responsibilities:


  • Develop and execute strategy for expanding Kroll's Financial Instruments & Technology (FIT) client base
  • Arrange, deliver and close sales presentations of FIT services to new and existing clients
  • Establish metrics around various levels of activity that include marketing/prospecting, closing and execution on new engagements
  • Create, sustain and leverage C-Level relationships in the marketplace
  • Serve as the lead on multiple, concurrent FIT engagements including the valuation of structured products, loan pools, financial derivatives, complex corporate securities, cash and synthetic securitized products, and the analysis of various private debt and equity products
  • Assure sound application of project management principles and quality assurance at all stages and phases of projects
  • Advise all levels of professional staff, as necessary, on project progress and client expectations while maintaining utilization and realization metrics
  • Manage and oversee an existing professional staff (with statistical and analytic support) to perform complex financial structures, client investment and strategic applications, litigation consulting and risk advisory services
  • Managing client relationships; identifying and developing opportunities to enhance relationships with existing clients/contacts and new potential business (existing services or identifying and/or developing potential new services/products)
  • Recruiting, training, developing and evaluating FIT professional and administrative staff
  • Identifying cross-marketing opportunities within and across Kroll
  • Overall engagement responsibility for multiple FIT engagements, as well as potentially other Kroll service offerings
  • Demonstrating support in advancing company and practice objectives of profitability, professionalism and teamwork with colleagues and clients


Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline and an in-depth knowledge of Mathematics and Statistics as it applies to the financial markets. PhD or master's in finance, Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics (or other related quantitative discipline) preferred
  • 10 years of work experience in the financial markets, covering both public and private financial instruments
  • Expertise in developing consumer residential, commercial credit loss models
  • Expertise in modeling structured credit, including ability to understand and appropriately model deal nuances from governing documents
  • In-depth understanding of statistical inference and related techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills including the application of probabilistic analysis, time series analysis, Monte Carlo simulation, etc.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
