The Ground Transportation Coordinator is responsible for providing excellent customer service to all commercial vehicle operators at the airport. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Provides customer service to commercial vehicle operators.

  • Receives, processes, issues, and manages assigned commercial vehicle permits in a timely manner.

  • Creates billing and assists commercial transportation customers with billing and invoicing questions.

  • Enforces RDU Ordinances, Policies, and Procedures in collaboration with Airport Operations and Law Enforcement by communicating with commercial vehicle operators/owners by phone, email, and meetings.

  • Conducts vehicle inspections Automated Vehicle Identification (AVI) verifications and ensures Certificates of Insurance are acceptable and active.

  • Assists developing short and long-term strategic and business plans and implements assigned projects.

  • Creates and disseminates weekly and monthly business reports.

  • Conducts industry benchmarking and surveys.

  • Consistently seeks out opportunities and reviews industry best practices to recommend and implement continuous business improvement.

  • Prepares and processes bank deposits for permits and fees.

  • Approves and prepares Special Events and Limited Access Permits.

  • Gathers pricing from vendors for department items and prepares budget data.

  • Orders and receives office supplies and sends all bills to accounting twice yearly.

  • Performs related work as required.

Knowledge of:


  • Authority’s Ground Transportation Ordinances, Rules, regulations, procedures, policies, and applicable N. C. laws and regulations that apply to transit operations.

  • Considerable knowledge of administrative practices and procedures.

  • Considerable knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software.

  • Working knowledge of programs, policies, and practices used in the operation of ground transportation services.

  • Working knowledge of public and private ground transportation principles and practices.

  • Working knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.

  • Knowledge of AVI systems and ABM Lease Management systems

  • ABM reports

  • English grammar, spelling, punctuation

  • Legal terminology and court procedures

  • Principles and practices of basic bookkeeping

  • Modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment

Hiring Range:  $57,423.36 - $63,731.03
