The C&D Signal Processing and Camera Architecture Team seeks a Camera Control Algorithm Research Engineer/Lead who has extended experience of leading high-performance camera control algorithm development from concept to production volume ramp in consumer electronics.
Camera Control Algorithm Research Engineer/Lead, Reality Labs Responsibilities:
Responsible for all research, design, development, test and qualification of camera AF/OIS control algorithm for FRL products
Interact with cross-functional engineering teams (Product management, camera HW engineer, Software Engineers, Electrical Engineering) for camera prototyping, development and system integration
Lead on camera AF/OIS control algorithm roadmap, research, development, qualification and production bring up, create new photography user experience
Understand camera hardware and software architectures, optimize the camera AF/OIS control algorithm performance and efficiency
Work with camera HW team to develop camera AF/OIS control architect, define the factory camera control calibration procedure, test/validation plan
Driving prototype ideas for proof of concept and demonstration purposes
Off-shore supplier travel required
Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in Imaging Science, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related field
Experience programming in MATLAB, Python, Objective C, or C/C++
3+ years industry experience in camera control algorithm development over the full product life cycle from product definition to NPI and ramp
Working knowledge of camera module structure, e.g. Lens, Sensor, Actuator (AF/OIS), Gyro/IMU, and best practices with understanding of image quality fundamentals and their system drivers
Experience in driving algorithm development from prototype to real-time deployment
Experience in driving the optimization of camera HW/FW/SW system integration
Experience working with camera module manufacturing process
Data analysis skills using JMP, MATLAB or related software
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Understanding of overall systems interactions in the image ISP pipeline
Camera algorithm development with experience in some of the following imaging algorithms: Auto Focus, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), Auto-exposure, Auto white balance, etc.
Working knowledge across the following areas with detailed experience in standard imaging interfaces and protocols in the typical consumer platform
Working knowledge across the following areas with detailed experience in camera actuator working principle and characterization methodology
Working knowledge across the following areas with detailed experience in camera module mechanical design and basic tolerance analysis
Working knowledge across the following areas with detailed experience in Image quality evaluation methodology (test algorithm, chart, lab setup) and quality metric
Experience in Machine Learning and AI Algorithms
