Job Description:

The Executive Director will steer the direction of Meals on Wheels to carry out its mission according to the strategic direction outlined/established by the organization and Board of Directors. This role will oversee daily operations of the organization, providing executive direction for program strategies and efficiencies, compliance, and quality assurance and compliance.

With responsibility for all program areas, this candidate will execute all areas of need for the organization including management in the following areas: fiscal, operational, program development, community relations, and board relations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a climate that attracts and retains a talented and diverse staff
  • Oversees the development of general and targeted marketing and outreach strategies to build community awareness, trust and maintain a positive image for MoW and to ensure communities are provided access to MoW services and information,
  • Oversees the development and timely submittal of grant reports and assures that related program documentation complies with grant and contract requirements.
  • Maintains positive relationships with the Agency on Aging/Area 4 and other grant makers, congregate site hosts, government entities and officials, donors, supporters, and the general public.
  • Responsible for the oversight of the budget. This includes the development and growth of financial resources to ensure adequate and diversified financial resources.
  • Leads and participates in fund development plans and strategies to raise and leverage funds to extend MoW services including direct mail, special events, solicitations, and planned giving.
  • Serves as the primary spokesperson for MoW and makes presentations at various government, commission, community, business and public meetings, events and media outlets.
  • Provides overall leadership for the organization's operations, including day-to day program operations, grant development, human resources, volunteer management, capital assets, finance, fund development, technology, and community relations.
  • Ensures the organization meets all fiscal, contractual, legal and ethical obligations.
  • Oversees the procurement process for capital purchases and service contracts to conform with regulatory and policy requirements
  • Administers risk management and safety policies and procedures and collaborates with appropriate agencies to reduce risk exposure.
  • Ensures effective internal controls are in place and maintained to protect organization assets.
  • Ensures compliance with Board of Directors' policies and directives and maintains a close working relationship with the Board President.

Qualifications
  • Leadership and collaborative experience within service systems that impact older adults, including social, financial assistance, health and wellness.
  • Fund development experience, including grant writing, and fundraising through federal, state, local agencies, corporations, and individuals and cultivation and stewardship of donors
  • Proven planning, strategizing, and marketing abilities, and will possess excellent interpersonal skills to work successfully with individuals at all levels of the organization as well as relate to Board members and the community
  • Experience working in non-profit organizations with budget management that have a mix of revenue sources.
