Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

Repair and install production/manufacturing equipment. Inspect equipment for proper functioning and perform preventative maintenance duties per manufacturer's specifications. Diagnose equipment malfunctions and makes repairs or adjustments as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

  • Adhere to plant-wide safety, ergonomics and environmental requirements defined by Amsted Rail; outlined by the Amsted Rail Health & Safety program.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns.
  • Repair all production equipment as needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment.
  • Perform breakdown analysis.
  • Repair mechanical systems (e.g., gear boxes, chains, sprockets, motors, seals, bearings).
  • Repair basic electrical systems (e.g., starters, fuses, contacts, relays).
  • Repair conveyers (air cylinders, diverters, sensors, motor/speed controls).
  • Repair electronics (e.g., level probes, flow meters, drives/VFDs, etc.).
  • Repair hydraulic systems (high pressure cylinders, pumps, valves, troubleshooting).
  • Repair pneumatics/air compression (e.g., valves, cylinders, etc.).
  • Repair compressors/ammonia systems (e.g., refrigeration systems).
  • Repair pumps (e.g., troubleshooting, replacing seals/motors, and understanding specs).
  • Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams and product manuals to determine the method and sequence of assembly of a part, machine, or piece of equipment.
  • Upgrade production lines with new equipment/technology.
  • Work with outside contractor, as assigned.
  • Follow proper lock out/tag out procedures as required.
  • Comply with GMP, safety, and audit standards.
  • Document work schedule and work tasks completed.
  • Communicate with all other team members to assure production and customer satisfaction.
  • Perform basic housekeeping to keep area clean and safe.
  • Work independently and/or as part of a team
  • Perform daily 6S duties.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

4 years' experience in related field with proven industry experience, including:

  • Industrial experience
  • Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic components
  • Bearing installation and handling
  • Plumbing and piping
  • Blueprint reading
