Job Description:

Akkodis is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer fora Direct-hire role with a client located in Maple Grove, MN- hybrid role (1-2x a week on-site in Maple Grove or customer site, 2-3x a week at home)

Salary Range: $100-140k (depending upon yrs. of exp.)

Note:

5+ years of full product lifecycle experience (concept, design, testing, post-go-live activities).

Someone who knows about electromechanical devices. Motors, 60601, fluid dynamics, bearings, cutting bits

Regulated/high high-riskrisk environment i.e. background in med device, aerospace, avionics, defense- someone who has submitted to FDA/FAA.

being able to work independently, smaller companies- usually better versus being very niche at what they do- involved in the full product lifecycle

Being able to work with designers/CAD team, verification teams, and customers directly at time (present well).

Responsibilities:
  • Apply principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.
  • Design medical products and confirms correctness using methodologies and tools such as FEA, GD&T, CFD, etc.
  • Evaluate mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs.
  • Lead and complete medical standard document deliverables.
  • Identify and efficiently resolve technical problems and issues.
  • Lead and communicate to a client for small scale programs.
  • Research and analyze experimental data to understand design issues and set a direction for issue resolution.
  • Prepare product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Delegate and set work direction for technicians and designers.
  • Create test protocols and reports for verification testing
  • Work with suppliers and manufacturing facilities to design for manufacturability

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from accredited four- year college or university
  • Minimum five years' experience in new medical product development over full life cycle of products
  • Direct experience with the product development process ranging from requirements development, prototyping, verification and product release is required
  • Must have demonstrated experience working on electromechanical systems.
  • Specificailly, with motors, fluid flow, and materials for design.
  • Experience with IEC 60601 and with ISO 14971.
