The incumbent is supervised by the Principal(s) of FSUS, or by another appropriate administrator of Florida State University. They are responsible for planning and conducting classes for FSUS students, for academic advising and related activities, and for assisting with student supervision. Attendance is required at staff conferences and curriculum development activities, with required involvement in action research, creative endeavors, and service.
Plans and implements lessons in the subject area assigned. Assesses students to evaluate their abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. Works with students to challenge them to improve their abilities, and proactively address academic needs. Closely monitors learning progress and communicates proactively with families.
Participates in professional development and research as required and aligned with the mission of FSUS as a developmental research school.
Coordinates required IEP meetings. Communicates effectively with parents, colleagues, and other stakeholders to ensure that IEPs for students with disabilities are implemented with fidelity. Collaborates with teachers of students with disabilities to implement the Individual Education Plan (IEP) and monitor the progress of IEP goals. Provides support to general education teachers and students with disabilities to provide specialized instruction, and consultative instruction, as identified through each student's IEP.
