Performs HVAC-R duties requiring both routine and advanced levels of professional skill and technical knowledge. Able to provide training and mentorship to apprentice level employees. Performs preventative and corrective HVAC-R maintenance on building systems in accordance with department procedures and applicable codes and laws. Performs other duties as required.
JOB DUTIES:
85% - Essential - HVAC-R Systems Maintenance: Performs installation, diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of residential, commercial, industrial, and refrigeration-based HVAC-R systems. Troubleshoots and repairs controls systems and associated equipment. Identifies maintenance risks on equipment. Interprets blueprints used to install heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment in University buildings for troubleshooting and or review.
10% - Essential - Training and Mentorship: Leads, guides, and/or trains apprentice level technicians in applicable procedures and techniques. Completes training and testing to obtain and/or maintain applicable licensing and certifications.
5% - Essential - Safety: Promotes a safe workplace and safe work practices. Complies with all applicable OSHA safety mandates and enforcement of the University LOTO policy. Complies with all EPA/SCDES rules. Promotes positive and productive relationships between shops.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent and experience in the installation and maintenance of HVAC systems or in the operation and maintenance of HVAC mechanical and building control systems. Relevant experinece may be substituted for the required diploma on a yeat-for-year basis.

Education - Vocational or Technical Training - Trade School Diploma; MASC Journeyman certificate Work Experience: 3+ years
