Webster Bank is seeking an experienced Senior Director to lead our Database Management team, responsible for managing and optimizing our databases, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.


The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database administration, leadership, audit & compliance, emerging technologies, and should have banking industry expertise.


In this position, you will perform all activities related to managing support and development of bank's enterprise database stack. This role shall also be responsible for setting security standards, Audit management, best practices, and execution of data management roadmap initiatives.


Leadership:




  • Manage a team of DBAs, providing guidance, coaching, and development opportunities.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Database Management:




  • Oversee database design, implementation, and optimization for multiple databases (e.g., Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).

  • Ensure database security, backups, and disaster recovery processes are in place.

  • Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions.

Strategy and Planning:




  • Develop and implement database strategies aligned with business objectives.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify database requirements and solutions.

Risk Management:




  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies.

  • Identify and mitigate database-related risks.

Vendor Management:


  • Develop and manage vendor relationships for product roadmaps, emerging server technologies.

  • Maintain contracts and maintenance agreements for Database systems.

  • Provide input and guidance towards department and corporate lifecycle planning.

Communication:




  • Provide regular updates to senior management and stakeholders.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, infrastructure, and operations.



EXPERIENCE



  • 10+ years' experience using SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Oracle, SQL Azure, AWS, Package Deployment, Debugging. T-SQL, Active X, Python, Shell Scripting, Stored Procedures, Performance Tuning and Optimization.

  • 10+ years' experience using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Job Agent, SQL Developer, Toad, RMAN, Integration Services Catalogs.

  • 5+ years' experience with Data Analytics (SSAS), Reporting (SSRS), HLA & DR techniques (Always On, Log Shipping, Replication, Mirroring, etc.)


SPECIFIC JOB-RELATED EDUCATION & SKILLS





  • 15+ years of experience in database administration, with 5+ years in a leadership role.

  • Strong knowledge of database technologies, including Oracle and SQL Server.

  • Experience in banking or financial services industry.

  • Proven leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.

Nice to Have:




  • Master's degree in a related field.

  • Certifications like Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Certified Database Administrator (CDA).

  • Experience with cloud-based databases and DevOps practices.

  • Working knowledge of AI/ML

The estimated salary range for this position is $165,000.00 to $190,000.00. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
