We are looking for a Purchasing Agent, preferably with a background in the packaging industry who is looking to join an organization that has rapidly become an industry leader in the local market. This position will offer the opportunity to join a small but dedicated and hungry team to expand their reach throughout the southeast as well as the rest of the country. This organization was started by individuals with a passion for quality within the packaging industry as well as the education and background to back it up.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop sound, cost-effective strategies for purchasing of materials used and resold by Advanced Packaging
Tracking commodities and indexes - negotiation based on data analysis.
Finding and auditing vendors and visiting supplier's facilities to learn about products, services and pricing. Managing vendor score cards.
Evaluating suppliers by considering price, quality, availability and other criteria. Establish service level standards.
Authorizing payments and maintaining receipts, records, and inventories.
Interacting with suppliers to schedule delivery times and resolve shipping errors.
Negotiating contracts with vendors and suppliers to obtain the best deals on behalf of the company.
Maintain relationships with current suppliers while finding additional/replacement.
Conducting cost analyses and setting benchmarks for improvement
Evaluating spending operations while seeking ways to improve and enhance the quality of products purchased and the timeliness of deliveries.
Maintain current costing within NetSuite.
Attending industry trade shows to learn about and stay current on trends and meet with suppliers.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Perform metrics reporting and data analysis tasks to identify issues and opportunities for process improvements.
Monitor forecasts to identify changes or to determine their effect on supply chain activities.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors Degree required plus 3-5 years experience
Packaging knowledge and experience in industry
Construction knowledge preferred but not required (helpful because of the woodshop - crate construction, etc.)
Ability to negotiate prices with vendors
NetSuite and Microsoft Office experience
