JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The Statistician is pivotal in applying statistical methods and techniques to analyze and interpret complex healthcare data, supporting evidence-based decision-making within the healthcare organization. This role involves designing statistical models, performing data analysis, and generating reports to guide clinical and operational strategies. The successful candidate will exhibit strong quantitative skills and a commitment to upholding Choctaw Premier Services’ values of trust, respect, integrity, and accountability. With a focus on precision and analytical expertise, the Statistician plays a crucial role in enhancing the organization’s ability to deliver high-quality, data-driven healthcare solutions to improve patient care and outcomes.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Apply advanced statistical methods to analyze healthcare data, including clinical trials, patient outcomes, and operational metrics.
  • Use statistical software (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R) to perform data analysis and interpret complex results.
  • Design and develop research protocols and methodologies for healthcare studies and clinical trials.
  • Ensure that study designs are statistically sound and aligned with research objectives.
  • Collaborate with data managers to ensure data quality, integrity, and accuracy.
  • Prepare and clean datasets for analysis, handling missing or incomplete data appropriately.
  • Prepare detailed reports, visualizations, and presentations of statistical findings for stakeholders.
  • Communicate complex statistical concepts and results clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Support healthcare research projects by providing statistical expertise and analysis.
  • Assist in writing research papers, grant proposals, and scientific publications.
  • Analyze data related to quality improvement initiatives, patient safety, and clinical outcomes.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for enhancing healthcare delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure that statistical analyses comply with ethical standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., IRB guidelines, HIPAA).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong knowledge of statistical methods, including hypothesis testing, regression analysis, survival analysis, and multivariate techniques.
  • Ability to analyze complex healthcare data, identify trends, and derive actionable insights.
  • Experience with data management and analysis tools, as well as familiarity with healthcare databases and electronic health records (EHRs).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, presenting findings, and collaborating with stakeholders.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in statistical analysis and data interpretation.
  • Ability to address complex research questions and develop effective statistical solutions.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and proactive approach to exploring and addressing healthcare research questions.
  • Commitment to maintaining research integrity and adhering to ethical guidelines.
  • Ability to work effectively with research teams, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders to achieve research objectives.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, data science, or related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in applying statistical methods to healthcare data analysis or related field.
  • Proficiency with statistical software packages (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R) and data visualization tools.

PREFERRED:

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, data science, or related field.
  • Certification in biostatistics or statistical analysis (e.g., Certified Biostatistician, Statistical Analyst).
  • Experience with specific types of healthcare research, such as clinical trials or epidemiological studies.
  • Experience with advanced statistical methods or machine learning techniques if relevant to the role.
