Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineer will provide technical and creative ideas, grounded in the fundamental principles of the Mechanical Engineering discipline, contributing to projects of high complexity, product development success, and profitability of Laacke & Joys (LJ), by relating and responding to project needs with consistent design methodologies and creative vision that meets or exceeds expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Create new product upgrades in existing propriety intensive use Chairs.
  • Design, with the profile from Marketing/sales, a new intensive use chair.
  • Designing and redesigning plastics and foam parts which will be integrated into the existing units and new products.
  • Create all the necessary SolidWorks parts, assemblies, and drawings.
  • Generate all necessary documentation for vendors and production team.
  • Update BOM's in ERP system to reflect all revision changes on intensive use chair line.
  • Organize files in our PDM vault to maintain current revision levels.
  • Work with manufacturing to maximize the VQC of the upgraded and existing intensive products through the production process.
  • Support marketing department by generating necessary drawings and models for instruction manuals.
  • Introduce new capital equipment that can increase the VQC across the manufacturing process.
  • Present new ideas that will impact the VQC at any point in the manufacturing continuum.

Requirements/Expectations
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience working in a manufacturing or design setting
  • Proficient and efficient use of SolidWorks - parts, assembly, and drawings knowledge
  • Proficient and comfortable using Freeform shapes/surfaces and curves in SolidWorks
  • Mechanical aptitude, out of the box thinker, and self-starter
  • Experience designing parts that will be manufactured using plastic blow, rotations, and injection molding preferred but not required
  • Ability to work as a teammate with several other functional leaders
  • Outstanding research and investigative skills
  • Exceptional analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
