Title: Mechanical Engineer

Location: Decatur, IL (Onsite)

Employment Type: Fulltime Permanent with AXISCADES.

Position Overview

The Mechanical Engineer- will support the Engine Installation and Cooling team for Off Highway Trucks and Wheel Tractor Scraper products. The role involves research and development, investigating designs, functionality, and maintenance of products, equipment, designs, systems, and processes. The engineer will develop and update design/engineering changes, read and interpret drawings/blueprints, understand and investigate design/manufacturing processes, identify issues, and provide timely resolutions to NPI/CPI/BIQ/Shop support/DA, with heavy integration of various components and subsystems within the area of engine and cooling installations.

Job Responsibilities

Research and develop design, process, manufacture, test/validation of components, systems, sub-systems, and complex systems related to Engine and Cooling Installation team.

Research and analyze current/conceptual designs/proposals with respect to specifications/requirements, conduct time and cost feasibility, provide recommendations, and complete projects.

Investigate equipment failures, assembly concerns, and difficulties, diagnose/troubleshoot faulty operations, and make recommendations.

Develop conceptual designs by applying design principles to meet requirements.

Review final designs within/outside team for further development, analysis, testing, and evaluation on machine products using tools, equipment, or software.

Conduct timely design/quality gate reviews and lead issue management.

Create design concepts for complex engineering systems (tube/hose routings, simple and complex fabricated steel structures, mounting systems, and non-metallic components).

Adhere to APQP process for design and collaborate with suppliers to meet print requirements.

Education & Experience Required

Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering required.

5-7 years of progressive experience in product development, design, validation test and/or simulation, problem-solving analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Technical Skills Required

Knowledge and experience with problem-solving analysis (determining root cause, troubleshooting, concept generation, etc.).

Product development experience including product design, validation test, and/or simulation.

Ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams and deliver high-quality, cost-effective designs within committed timelines.

Mechanical aptitude with the ability to develop product concepts.

Technical Skills Desired

Experience in Engine Installation and Cooling systems (EIC) design/development.

Experience in working with assembly/manufacturing/first responder/troubleshoot systems and subsystems on products.

Experience with Creo software, 3D Visualization, Teamcenter.
