About the Company: Our Client, a leading manufacturer of metal products is in search for a Materials Buyer The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing purchasing operations with an annual budget of $5 to $8 million. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong negotiation skills, an understanding of market trends, and the ability to build relationships with suppliers to ensure the best quality and pricing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the end-to-end purchasing process for metals, ensuring timely procurement and adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers to negotiate favorable terms and pricing.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends and evaluate supplier performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and quality assurance, to forecast material needs and ensure alignment with production schedules.
  • Monitor inventory levels and establish reorder points to optimize stock levels and reduce excess inventory.
  • Analyze purchasing data to drive cost-saving initiatives and improve purchasing strategies.
  • Prepare and present reports on purchasing activities, trends, and forecasts to management.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations related to procurement.
  • Participate in vendor selection and evaluation processes to ensure high-quality material sourcing.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for process improvements in the purchasing function.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Buyer in the metals industry, with a focus on procurement for manufacturing.
  • Proven experience managing a purchasing budget of $5 to $8 million.
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Proficient in using purchasing and inventory management software, as well as Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of market trends, material specifications, and industry standards in the metals sector.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
