About the Company: Our Client, a leading manufacturer of metal products is in search for a Materials Buyer The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing purchasing operations with an annual budget of $5 to $8 million. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong negotiation skills, an understanding of market trends, and the ability to build relationships with suppliers to ensure the best quality and pricing.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the end-to-end purchasing process for metals, ensuring timely procurement and adherence to budgetary constraints.
Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers to negotiate favorable terms and pricing.
Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends and evaluate supplier performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and quality assurance, to forecast material needs and ensure alignment with production schedules.
Monitor inventory levels and establish reorder points to optimize stock levels and reduce excess inventory.
Analyze purchasing data to drive cost-saving initiatives and improve purchasing strategies.
Prepare and present reports on purchasing activities, trends, and forecasts to management.
Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations related to procurement.
Participate in vendor selection and evaluation processes to ensure high-quality material sourcing.
Continuously seek opportunities for process improvements in the purchasing function.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
3-5 years of experience as a Buyer in the metals industry, with a focus on procurement for manufacturing.
Proven experience managing a purchasing budget of $5 to $8 million.
Strong negotiation and analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
Proficient in using purchasing and inventory management software, as well as Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge of market trends, material specifications, and industry standards in the metals sector.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
