Job Description:

Our client, a leading provider of customs brokerage, freight forwarding, and ecommerce solutions for importers and exporters, is seeking a skilled Customs Brokerage Specialist to join their dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service by assisting clients with resolving issues related to their shipments and ensuring seamless communication.
  • Arrange and monitor shipment deliveries by coordinating with trucking companies, sending delivery orders, and tracking shipment status.
  • Process customs brokerage for air, ocean, truck, and other modes of transportation, ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs regulations.
  • Receive, review, and process import documentation, securing arrival information and accurately presenting necessary paperwork to U.S. Customs and other government agencies.
  • Classify a wide range of imported goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), ensuring proper duty application and identifying applicable exceptions.
  • Regularly update shipment status and enter key information into the Cargowise system, ensuring smooth workflow and transparency.
  • Resolve issues related to customs clearance or cargo pickups in a timely manner, while keeping clients informed throughout the process.
  • Process remote filings (RLF) and ensure timely invoicing within 48 hours of shipment release.
  • Communicate with trucking companies to resolve issues and coordinate cargo pickups, providing excellent client support throughout.
  • Ensure compliance with all domestic and international shipping regulations while securing competitive pricing for optimal profitability.
  • Maintain accurate records, including posting vendor invoices to the shipment file and scanning documents into Cargowise.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in customs brokerage or freight forwarding.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Must be a proactive team player with the ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Windows systems.
  • Experience with Cargowise is preferred; a Customs Brokerage license is a plus.
