The Superintendent will manage the day-to-day operations of ground-up commercial construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, effective communication, and a thorough understanding of construction practices and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
Oversee all phases of construction from site preparation through to final inspection.
Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure project specifications are met.
Team Leadership:
Supervise onsite personnel, including subcontractors and laborers, to maintain a productive and safe work environment.
Conduct daily meetings to communicate project goals, timelines, and safety protocols.
Quality Control:
Ensure that all work is performed according to building codes, regulations, and project specifications.
Conduct regular inspections and quality checks to identify and resolve issues promptly.
Schedule Management:
Develop and maintain project schedules, adjusting as necessary to accommodate changes or delays.
Monitor progress and implement corrective actions to keep the project on track.
Budget Oversight:
Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure that resources are allocated effectively.
Review and approve change orders and invoices from subcontractors.
Safety Compliance:
Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures on the job site, ensuring compliance with OSHA and local regulations.
Conduct safety training sessions and meetings to promote a culture of safety among all personnel.
Client and Stakeholder Communication:
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on project status and addressing any concerns.
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals and expectations.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of project progress, including daily logs, reports, and correspondence.
Prepare and submit regular reports to upper management regarding project milestones and challenges.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
2+ years of experience as a superintendent in ground-up commercial construction.
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations applicable to commercial projects.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in construction management software and tools.
Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under pressure.
