Job Description:

The Superintendent will manage the day-to-day operations of ground-up commercial construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, effective communication, and a thorough understanding of construction practices and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management:
  • Oversee all phases of construction from site preparation through to final inspection.
  • Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure project specifications are met.

Team Leadership:
  • Supervise onsite personnel, including subcontractors and laborers, to maintain a productive and safe work environment.
  • Conduct daily meetings to communicate project goals, timelines, and safety protocols.

Quality Control:
  • Ensure that all work is performed according to building codes, regulations, and project specifications.
  • Conduct regular inspections and quality checks to identify and resolve issues promptly.

Schedule Management:
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, adjusting as necessary to accommodate changes or delays.
  • Monitor progress and implement corrective actions to keep the project on track.

Budget Oversight:
  • Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure that resources are allocated effectively.
  • Review and approve change orders and invoices from subcontractors.

Safety Compliance:
  • Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures on the job site, ensuring compliance with OSHA and local regulations.
  • Conduct safety training sessions and meetings to promote a culture of safety among all personnel.

Client and Stakeholder Communication:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on project status and addressing any concerns.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals and expectations.

Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of project progress, including daily logs, reports, and correspondence.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports to upper management regarding project milestones and challenges.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience as a superintendent in ground-up commercial construction.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations applicable to commercial projects.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under pressure.

You are NOT qualified for this position if:
  • You have an IT background
  • You do not have commercial construction experience
  • You have not worked as a Superintendent or in the construction industry
  • You require sponsorship
