Job Description Summary

Responsible for the labeling, inspecting and packaging of final container products with manual and/or automated packaging systems. Operates equipment that packages materials or products by inserting them into containers or filling containers from spouts or chutes. May perform other packaging tasks including placing labels on packages, operating small production equipment, putting manuals into binders, counting and sorting various items, and forming or breaking down boxes for final product. May also set-up, change-over and operate labeling and packaging equipment. Responsible for data entry and imprinting computer generated labels. May perform or assist in final check of completed documents for completeness and accuracy. Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves complex issues associated with packaging operations.

JOB SUMMARY

Perform tasks involved in packaging sterile products to ensure safe delivery of product to end user. Perform activities necessary for inspection of packages to assure conformance to quality standards. Maintain work area in clean and orderly manner. Assist in maintaining inventory levels at assigned production cell.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Set up equipment as required for package inspection according to established procedures. Inspect packages according to established procedures. Package inspection includes but not limited to visual inspection of packages for damage, correct count, correct size/shape, and correct label information. Verify sterilization validation paperwork to assure packages were exposed to proper radiation level for specified time. Verify expiration date on packages to assure they are within dating limits. Package all products according to established procedures. Package material include but not limited to syringes, needles, cannulas, spinal needles, etc. All packages are labeled per established procedures with expiration dates, lot numbers, and other special requirements. Work closely with automated packaging equipment. Troubleshoot problems with equipment as needed. Maintains good housekeeping of work area. Returns any unused materials to stock. Maintains adequate supplies at work station.
2. Maintain accurate production records as required by the department. Includes but not limited to; daily production sheets, weekly logs, reject sheets, etc. Enter data into SAP computer system as needed. Receive and check all incoming materials as required by the department. Includes but not limited to; checking for correct shipment, correct quantity, no damage, etc. Fill out receiving tickets as needed. Put away all incoming materials in appropriate storage areas. Take physical inventory as needed by the department. Assist in coordinating activities with other departments as needed. Includes but not limited to; shipping, receiving, warehouse, QA, engineering, maintenance, etc. Maintain security of the warehouse. Includes but not limited to; keeping doors locked, maintaining inventory control, etc.
3. Maintain good attendance and punctuality. Work efficiently and constantly moves towards improved processes and efficiency. Actively participates in team meetings. Acts in a professional manner. Actively promotes safety. Promotes positive relations with all employees. Treats others with respect.
4. Must be able to perform all job-related tasks while wearing required personal protective equipment. Must be able to perform all job-related tasks while standing or walking for extended periods of time. Must be able to perform all job-related tasks while lifting weights of approximately 50 pounds. Must be able to perform all job-related tasks while working in an environment with noise levels averaging more than 85 db for extended periods of time. Must be able to perform all job-related tasks while working in an environment with temperatures ranging from -20 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit for extended periods of time. Must be able to perform all job-related tasks while working in an environment with fumes (chemical and/or cleaning) for extended periods of time. Must be able to perform all job-related tasks while working in an environment with dust and/or particles for extended periods of time. Must be able to perform all job-related tasks while working in an environment with potential exposure to infectious agents (bloodborne pathogens). Must be able to perform all job-related tasks while working in an environment with potential exposure to radioactive materials.



JOB QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS


1. Knowledge of single piece flow manufacturing process.
2. Basic knowledge of medical devices.
3. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
4. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Read and understand visual aid.
5. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one
6. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
7. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
8. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
9. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
10. Ability to use measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, scales, and various types of gauges.



EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS



  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous experience in a regulated medical device or pharmaceutical environment preferred.

  • One year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
