We are looking for a savvy and seasoned Editor in Chief and an expert in the news journalist industry. You will work on a new cutting-edge AI news app that produces the Top 5 things happening today. The position involves constructing a front page experience. You will be responsible for reviewing and selecting available content from numerous content publishing partners, ensuring images align with content, editing headlines/content that encourage users to listen and read, page production in their publishing tool, and working across groups in other ways to help improve the experience. The successful candidate will also be charged with identifying trends and help come up with solutions to boost editorial success. The editor will work 4-5 hours in a fast-paced, daily publishing environment covering a shift between 7pm PST - midnight PST. This is a highly visible position and will get direct feedback from executive leaders of the AI org.
Qualifications:
We're looking for a seasoned editor with a background in journalism, experience working at any large news outlet that serves a diverse set of content, and at least three years of experience in a daily web publishing environment. The successful candidate will possess strong writing/editing skills, knowledge of Web-based publishing, solid communication and partnering skills, and a proven track record in working in a high pace environment. Candidates should be highly organized, self-motivated, resourceful, capable of making numerous editorial decisions while under pressure, and able to manage strict deadlines. They must have a thorough understanding of and passion for news journalism industry, a growth mindset and willingness to be flexible and open for where this product is heading. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field.
