The Heavy Equipment Mechanic's responsibility is to maintain, repair, troubleshoot, install, and repair all mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment related to mobile equipment, stationary engines, and associated equipment for efficient and safe operation of the plant. This position will work out of our Lakeside shop and will work the 2nd shift.
Job Duties
Conduct a complete pre-and post-shift safety inspection
Observe all safety precautions and rules specified by federal, state, and company regulations
Report unsafe conditions, accidents, or incidents immediately to the Lead person or Manager
Communicate with plant management on all safety and maintenance needs
Perform diesel and gasoline engine repairs and diagnose and perform power train component repairs
Troubleshoot and perform hydraulic system repairs
Perform specialized component repairs such as hydraulic and mechanical drives
Make minor repairs including welding and cutting
Knowledge of truck air brake systems and ability to diagnose and repair problems
Ability to read, understand and apply all schematics, drawings, technical applications and logic
Maintain, repair, troubleshoot, install and replace all mechanical electrical and electronic equipment related to mobile equipment, stationary engines and associated equipment
Basic computer skills required
This person will work the 2ndshift and must be available for overtime when needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge of preventative maintenance scheduling
Commercial drivers license highly preferred
3-5 years of journeyman level mechanic experience required
5 years heavy mobile equipment experience
Experience preferred on dozer, Cat haul trucks, front end loaders, mobile cranes, and forklifts
