Job Summary:
Responsible for screening and thoroughly investigating multi-line/multi-state commercial automobile losses to determine liability, identify coverage exposures, and negotiate settlements. The Claim Specialist II position will handle a pending of commercial automobile claims that will involve; Collision, Other Than Collision, Uninsured Motorist Property Damage, Med-Pay, Bodily Injury and Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist. Frequent oral and written communication with customers, claimants and attorneys is required and these communications must be timely and professional. Compliance with State specific Department of Insurance Regulations as well as the company's privacy and data security policy is required.
Essential Job Functions:
Strong telephone customer service skills and the ability to empathize with customers and claimants.
Ability to organize and prioritize work to assure productivity goals of a pending are met.
Ability to work both independently and in a team.
Document and preserve all verbal or written communication activity in the claim system.
Establish and maintain proper loss reserves.
Conduct in-house investigations, ordering police reports, ISO filings, assign field assignments to company approved appraisers and/or independent adjusters.
Attend any necessary meetings or appearances on assigned claims as directed or approved by Supervisor.
Evaluate 1st and 3rd party injury claims and negotiate settlements within your assigned authority.
Prepare Serious Loss Report (SLR) on claims which have loss exposure $200K or greater.
Provide detailed instructions to company approved business partners with emphasis of expense control on all claims handled.
Prepare file transfer request to Litigation Specialist when insured served with Summons and Complaint.
Maintain compliance with DOI regulation for the involved jurisdiction.
Keep Supervisor advised of significant developments in claims.
Timely respond to any inquire from brokers/agents, insured's, claimants, attorneys, outside business partners or internal TMM staff.
Pursue all subrogation opportunities when appropriate.
Timely process all total loss vehicles with company salvage buyer.
Attend all company sponsored training as scheduled by the company.
Responsible for complying with proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and/or carry out responsibilities and/or administrative activities at Company.
Qualifications:
College degree preferred
3 years claims handling or combination of 2 years claims handling plus experience with TMA systems and processes
Bodily Injury experience required
Computer skills including proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software
Knowledge of commercial auto policy and coverage (preferred)
Knowledge of tort law in various jurisdictions and motor vehicle law (preferred)
Ability to negotiate claim settlements in a timely and reasonable fashion
Strong oral and written communication skills
Works independently under general supervision. Work is reviewed for overall adequacy and accuracy
Makes decisions related to wide variety of situations within management limits
Develops solutions to a variety of problems, typically of moderate scope and complexity
Bilingual in Japanese and English preferred.
Salary range of $60k - $80k. Ultimate salary offered will be based on factors such as applicant experience and geographic location. Our company offers a competitive benefits package and bonus eligibility on top of base.
