Position Summary:
The Benz Hydraulic Repair Technician position will support the Benz Hydraulic Repair department in areas related to cylinder repair, hose assembly, and other hydraulic and pneumatic systems repairs/builds. The purpose of these activities is to support the Benz Hydraulic Repair department’s growth, quality requirements and on time delivery goal while creating a more productive environment.
Essential Functions:
• Assemble, disassemble, evaluate and test a wide variety of products/systems, specifically hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders including support hoses and other material (i.e. electromechanical and mechanical)
• Support onsite repairs, startups and field commissions of core products and systems
• Knowledgeable in cylinders, hydraulic components and systems including pumps, valves, and much more.
• Assist with the Benz Repair Supervisor and the sales team to quote orders and develop customer relationships.
• Provide feedback, coaching and training to the repair team members at the direction of the Benz Repair Supervisor.
• Support continuous improvement and strive to achieve cost effective results
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
• Contribute to maintaining a safe working environment
• Adhere and reinforce the company core values; policies; quality system requirements; OSHA regulations, and employee safety
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
• +5 years industrial experience with hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, specifically in repairing the system
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Welding experience (preferably certified in MIG and TIG welding)
• Operate and maintain machinery to produce metal parts
• Experience in tube fabrication, bending and end conditioning
• Experience with metal fabrication
• Able to read mechanical and electrical drawings
• Good math and reading skills
• Skills to effectively manage time and meet all necessary deadlines
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
• Demonstrated dependability
• Able to lift 25 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally
• Demonstrated adherence to all safety regulations
• Certified Hydraulic Technician is preferred
Environment:
• Manufacturing facility
• Requires employee to spend the majority of his or her time on foot, lifting, bending, standing and carrying items
• Steel toe shoes and safety glasses are required
• Light travel to customer facilities
• Able to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally
• Driver’s license required
Education:
• High school diploma or GED
• 2-year or 4-year degree in a specialized area a plus
