Job Description
Under the direction of the Cement Terminal Manager, the Control Room Operator must maintain the cement terminal in a neat and orderly manner. The Control Room Operator is responsible for monitoring all trucks being received into inventory to ensure no leakage is taking place and that customer trucks are loaded in a clean orderly manner. As well as monitoring all systems for changes and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
Job Responsibilities
Check and maintain all equipment in work area
Equipment inclusive of compressors, valves, gearboxes, air slides, blowers, etc
Load and weigh out cement tankers and use computers in the control room
Keep scale clean both above and around load cells as well as the unloading bays
Unplug feeder and hoppers and clear sticking gate when needed
Be able to operate forklift, skid steer and man lift
Be able to direct inbound trucks to unloading bays and assist carriers as needed
Handle problems as they arise
Learning and being able to trouble shoot our ticketing system a plus
Perform other duties and special projects as required
Ability to adapt and adjust as situations occur
Ability to work a rotating schedule
Ability to work NIGHT SHIFT
Preferred Education and Experience
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience in plant operations a plus
Commercial Driver License (CDL) preferred
Ability to operate a forklift, skid steer, man lift
Ability to perform basic math functions
Ability to perform some welding; perform cutting and heating with Oxygen & Acetylene Equipment a plus
Must have excellent work and safety record
Must understand lock-out procedures
Computer skills are a plus
Bilingual a plus
Must be able to work non-traditional hours as needed
Physical Requirements
Climb up to 200-300 feet above ground on catwalks and/or platforms
Stooping, bending, kneeling a minimum of 25 times per day
Lift 75 lbs. three times per day, floor to waist level
Walk/stand on uneven ground, walkways and catwalks throughout the work day
Climb ladders, steps and inclined walks minimum of 2 hours per day
Carry 50 lbs. minimum of 50 feet, 5 times per day
Communicate in person or by radio minimum of 2 hours per day
Able to reason through difficult operations problems, resolve said problems and/or relate same to others
Ability to run jackhammer, bobcat, shovel and wheelbarrow; lance and hand tools
Capability of working for long periods of time in extreme heat and in dusty areas, confined spaces and heights
Ability to work a rotating/ changing shift as needed
Ability to handle steel, machine parts and tools weighing up to 80 lbs. and assist others with this work
Ability to climb stairs and work at heights (150' and up)
Must work outside in all weather conditions: heat, cold, dust, and wet a minimum of 8 hours per day. Work in high noise level areas while wearing proper PPE
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, ice, rain, and in high humidity, and is required to work in all plant environments. The incumbent will be exposed to vibrating equipment and mechanical and electrical hazards and heights..May have exposure to dust, cement, clay, gypsum, sand, diesel exhaust, lubricants, solvents, various fuels, etc. (See MSDS's)
