Serves as Regional Behavior Coach of the Behavior Alliance of South Carolina (BASC). The BASC, a technical assistance provider funded by the South Carolina Department of Education, is focused on cultivating effective systems, a continuum of support, and evidence-based practices so all students can experience a sense of belonging and engage successfully in school. Regional Behavior Coaches are responsible for providing technical assistance for evidence-based behavior strategies to districts within a geographic region of the State of South Carolina. The role's focus will be on the MTSS process and on the implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) with a focus on supporting districts in analyzing their data for action planning, training, and intervention implementation. Regional Behavior Coaches will create positive relationships with school and district leaders within their region of the state and deliver high-quality professional learning opportunities for relevant stakeholders and also perform other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
25% - Essential - Technical Assistance & Data-Based Decision Making: Provides technical assistance on cultivating effective systems, a continuum of supports, and the implementation of MTSS and school climate work to assigned geographic region of the state so all students can experience a sense of belonging and engage successfully in school. Coaches will review all forms of district-climate & MTSS-related data to determine district needs. Works with districts to get input, buy-in, and ownership of district needs, and use these sources to create a plan for technical assistance, coaching, and support.
25% - Essential - Professional Development Delivery: Takes school plans for technical assistance, coaching, and support and identify a year-long training and coaching schedule, including at least a once monthly meeting with district-level staff. Takes the lead in coordinating and delivering training, while also ensuring a coaching plan is in place to implement professional development sessions delivered.
25% - Essential - Direct Coaching & Support: Provides in person support to districts, with an emphasis on building buy-in, coaching in real-time, and delivering high quality support to help districts feel connected and supported by the BASC project.
15% - Essential - Collaboration: Operates as a member of the BASC team, attending regular team meetings, share resources, and create trainings/curriculum. Collaborates closely with fellow BASC teammates to share information and build the BASC model across the state of South Carolina.
10% - Essential - Project Communication & Dissemination: Participates in creating briefs, newsletter, web resources, one-pagers, publications, and presentations to disseminate the work of the BASC across the state and beyond.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Master's Degree - In education or another directly related field and experience in curriculum development.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Work Experience 5+ years - In education (teaching, administrator, implementing programs, and service for districts. Current training and experience in PBIS, MTSS, Crisis Prevention Intervention, FBAs, ABA, Social Emotional Behavior, or Trauma Informed Practices.
