Inspect, adjust, and repair all buildings' doors, locks, and door cores, as well as maintaining One Card system and related components for interior and exterior locking systems and finishes and associated components at Babson College; adjusts those building components as necessary for optimal performance to maintain compliance with operating guidelines, state/local building codes, and other government regulations by performing the following essential duties.
The schedule is Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Adjust, repair, and inspect all buildings' locking devices, both mechanical and electrical systems, for interior and exterior locking units and finishes, to detect hazards, malfunctions, the need for adjustment, and/or replacement of such items as metal/wood doors, fixed/operable windows, hardware (door, window, electro-mechanical devices), as well as other similar or related building components; monitor the building conditions through a schedule review program and make the necessary corrections and adjustments to meet the buildings' programmatic requirements as directed by the Trades Supervisor.
Maintain all buildings' locks, door cores and securing selection points for roof, partitions (interior and exterior) and finishes (interior and exterior), such as metal/wood doors, fixed/operable, hardware (door, electro-mechanical devices), as well as other similar or related building components.
Repair or replace all buildings' faulty locks, doors cores, and securing selection points for roof, partitions (interior and exterior) and finishes (interior and exterior), such as metal/wood doors, fixed/operable, hardware (door, electro-mechanical devices); as well as other similar or related building components; corrects deficiencies in building components to restore the original condition.
Document repairs, maintenance, and comments on assigned service order slips; record routine building service statistics, building maintenance schedules, maintenance work performed and other pertinent information in applicable building records and databases.
Assist other in-house technicians and contractors to keep the building functioning within original design operating parameters.
Respond to and correct deficiencies on assigned service order work slips.
Provide assistance to other department trades group members as needed in the completion of work tasks; provide appropriate support in major events such as commencement and opening of school, participate in snow removal activities as needed to maintain campus operations.
Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent technical school certification. Must have a diploma from a recognized locksmith technical program.
Two to three years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to function well in a team/community environment, displaying common courtesies and politeness; frequently interacts with students, teachers, co-workers and administrators.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, material safety data sheets (MSDS), mechanical drawings, operating, maintenance, repair, installation, and procedure instructions or manuals.
Ability to write out routine reports, fill out equipment logs and provide descriptions of equipment problems and needs.
Ability to describe and explain specific problems and operating requirements on architectural/lock issues to other mechanics and immediate supervisor.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK
Must have had a valid unrestricted U.S. Driver's License for one year, and maintain throughout employment an insurable (as determined by the College's insurer's criteria) or a satisfactory driving record; must successfully complete and pass the College's vehicle training program within the first 60 days of employment; annual or more frequent review of employee's driving record based on the College insurer's criteria; and safety training as required by management.

CRITERIA FOR ADVANCEMENT TO THE NEXT LEVEL
Five to seven years; diploma from Advanced Locksmith program; recommendation by supervisor; acceptable background check; must be in good standing with no documented disciplinary actions for previous two years.
