The School of Art & Design at the University of Wisconsin-Stout invites applications for a Lecturer position in Interior Design/Architecture, commencing August 2025. This is a 9-month instructional academic staff position. Position expectations primarily include teaching the undergraduate interior design courses and the architectural drafting course in the construction program. The interior design program is CIDA (Council of Interior Design Accreditation) accredited. The construction program is ACCE (American Council for Construction Education) accredited. UW-Stout's School of Art & Design is NASAD (National Association of Schools of Art and Design) accredited. Course delivery is in-person and in accordance with ACCE, CIDA and NASAD standards.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum / Required
Bachelor's degree in interior design or architecture and five (5) years of professional experience by employment start date
Demonstrated commitment to student success
Experience using industry standard software, AutoCAD, Revit and Adobe Suite.
Highly Desired/Preferred
Master's or terminal degree (M.A., M.F.A., M.Arch, Ph.D.) in interior design, architecture or related field of study
Two or more years of teaching, teaching assistance, or industry experience in interior design, architecture or related field
Evidence of potential for teaching excellence
Demonstrated success working with diverse student populations
Commitment to cultivating a work environment and student experience that embraces inclusion
RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach interior design courses each semester, that may include introductory, intermediate, and advanced classes and architectural courses for the construction program.
Provide student academic advisement and conduct assessment of student learning. This includes contributing to academic program assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement processes, in collaboration with faculty and staff.
Demonstrate organizational skills and collegiality.
Collaborate with other faculty to maintain / develop course curricula.
Foster a rigorous and inclusive learning environment.
Schedule, maintain office hours and/or online availability for students, in alignment with departmental expectations; including assessment of student learning.
Provide grades following the process/timeline established by the registrar.
Advance student learning in the area of interior design and in alignment with UW-Stout's polytechnic tenets of applied learning and research, business and industry partnerships, career focused education.
Participate in the university online learning environment, which includes the learning management system.
Participate in early alert and other student success initiatives as requested.
Work with the Disability Services office ( http://www.uwstout.edu/disability ) to foster an inclusive learning environment when students disclose the need for learning accommodations.
Perform other duties as designated by Chair.
DEPARTMENT INFORMATION
UW-Stout's Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in Interior Design blends fine art, design and technical disciplines to prepare students for a career creating meaningful, life-enhancing and safe interior environments. Our program provides a learning environment that fosters creativity and collaboration between art, design and technical disciplines. Students develop the sensibilities, techniques, and methods related to residential and commercial space planning, lighting design, sustainable design, construction documentation, and to collaborate with architects and construction professionals.
The School of Art & Design (SOAD) has over 85 faculty/staff and over 1,400 students, making it the largest public higher education art and design entity in the upper Midwest. The School of Art & Design student population accounts for roughly 20% of the on-campus undergraduate population at UW-Stout.
