Who you are:
An experienced Product manager, excited to join a growing organization (under the umbrella of a larger pet health and pharmaceutical company) during a key stage of growth, leading our vision for the post-purchase customer journey, engagement, repeat purchases, and retention.
You are passionate and knowledgeable about consumer technology products, have a deep empathy for user problems, create impactful GTM and communication plans, lead product development from ideation to launch, and empower our business to build the right products to improve the customer experience and hit our ambitious growth and scaling targets. You have experience with consumer technology products, where digital experiences are a key component of your product.
You demonstrate leadership, product, technical, and design expertise, and executional excellence in building technical solutions to complex and ambiguous business problems. This is a strategic ownership role, reporting to the Precision Animal Health (PAH) leadership team through the Head of Digital Experience. The role owns the product delivery experience across the full companion portfolio for genetics, and is a strategic and visionary leader on the Product team.
Core responsibilities:
• Independent ownership of the full consumer lifecycle post-purchase from a Product and Technology perspective; in partnership with key stakeholders across Engineering, Science / R&D, and Marketing, this role is responsible and accountable for the post-purchase lifecycle(key to realizing revenue)
o Own the process for defining and documenting technical requirements for consumer Engineering products (end-to-end ownership of the Software Development Lifecycle, from research through to test analysis); you are equally at home performing customer research, writing functional specifications, and analyzing A/B test results
o Controls the deployment and prioritization of Engineering / Technology resources to unlock key business objectives relative to technical cost, complexity, and design goals
o Effectively aligns and informs Engineering and Design approach, finding common ground in terms of business impact / revenue, technical cost / complexity, and consumer experience
o Creates product requirements and associated documentation, including business case/ROI modeling and rationale, success metrics, acceptance criteria, testing requirements, exit/release planning, and GTM (go-to-market) support, tracking post-release success metrics and maintaining product backlogs and technical roadmaps
• Strong technical analytical skillset and experience (you know at least one coding language, like SQL, Python, R, etc.), and live and breathe data-driven testing roadmaps to unlock significant growth; you can perform independent data analysis (writing your own SQL query is a common occurrence) and look beyond data analysis results to see the business opportunity and the "so what" behind that data, effectively narrating at the right altitude up to the Executive level
o This role will have exposure to deploying this skillset against competitive / market analysis, customer and digital behavioral analysis, customer segmentation, financial upside modeling, etc.
o You are able to discuss test results with analytical resources while also understanding how to summarize high-level learnings for more senior audiences
• You do the above while keeping cross-functional stakeholders updated, informed, and aligned for complex, ambiguous efforts across multiple functions (Marketing, Science, R&D, Engineering, and Operations); you are a natural at project management effectiveness and have manage projects of significant ambiguity and complexity across distinct functions
• Alongside Marketing and Design, you are a key driver of customer research to identify user lifecycle opportunities, customer pain points, UX/UI optimization, brand resonance, etc. - you are an active participant in defining the strategic objectives of Consumer Research and also able to perform and analyze results
What we need:
• 6+ years of professional experience with Product Management, or Technical Project Management, for Consumer Technology or Animal Health companies, owning end-to-end projects and/or product lifecycles
o 10+ years in profession experience in consumer business roles of increasing scope, leadership and seniority; or 8+ years of professional experience plus a professional / advanced degree
• Technical expertise and an understanding of how to harness digital technologies to support a roadmap to influence key metrics around report delivery, engagement, and consumer retention
• Past experience building strategic and technical product roadmaps, testing plans and experiment roadmaps, to learn about optimization opportunities for conversion funnels and engagement tactics
• Experience leading customer research, market research, defining and measuring product lifecycle KPIs and metrics
• Strong analytical skills (SQL and Excel required, Python preferred) with demonstrated capabilities interpreting data and qualitative research and distilling into actionable takeaways
• Excellent collaborative skills and ability to work cross-functionally with a diverse group of stakeholders
• A story teller with with excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to make customers fall in love with our product
What you'll do:
• You will play an integral role in defining product strategy, roadmap, go-to-market strategies, product marketing, and product development informed by customer research, market insights, and product understanding
• Key partner for Marketing, Science/R&D, and Engineering including key activities and budgets to support the full consumer lifecycle
• Own experimentations and tests for existing and new products
• Independently conduct data analysis (using SQL and Excel daily) to identify performance drivers and key insights to assist in prioritization of strategic roadmaps for product lifecycle opportunities.
• Lead product ideation, strategic planning, tactical initiatives, product vision, product strategy, consumer research and insights, product roadmap, product design, product development, management of day-to-day software lifecycle, and product GTM throughout the product development lifecycle
