Academic Req: Required - Bachelor's degree from an accredited program/institution in nutrition, dietic, or another related field of National School Lunch Program/Food Services Industry.
Certifications: Food, First aid, CPR, Emergency behavior intervention; Preferred - certified dietician
Work Experience: Required - Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in Food Services, nutrition, dietic, or related field
Critical Action Items & Measurable Deliverables:
1. Meet and maintain all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards applicable to this position.
2. Assesses student preferences, trends, cultural and religious needs, and current research to plan menus that encourage participation in the CNP.
3. Address other job duties as assigned or for unforeseen matters that require attention to maintain a fluid and fully functional program.
4. Make frequent site visits to locations participating in the National School Lunch Program.
5. Assess food service operations at each site, provide real-time recommendations, and report results to NSLP Director.
6. Monitor meal plans for each location to ensure that each site follows the daily menu and accurately documents any change to the menu.
7. Work cooperatively with the State's Agriculture Department Nutrition Division and effectively communicate with food vendors to order food supplies and for all expenses.
8. Conduct quarterly service population food surveys and adjust the menus as appropriate.
9. Check meal orders for accuracy and compliance on monthly basis.
10. Implement Compass Connections safety protocols in case of an emergency.
11. Maintain confidentiality in all areas of child and program operations. 12. Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in Compass Connections employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, clients, and community members and complying with required dress code at all times.
13. The candidate must be capable of independent travel to programs across United States.
Other Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the implementation of a customer driven philosophy that focuses on value and satisfaction agency wide.
2. Assist the NSLP Director and ensures CNP compliance will all local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies to include Compass Connections Policy and Procedures.
3. Assist NSLP Director with State's NSLP claims monthly.
4. Provides technical assistance and Annual training for program foodservice personnel, program directors, and other support staff for all programs in the division.
5. Develops guidelines for providing services in response to disaster or emergency situations.
6. Meet all deadlines required by NSLP Director.
7. Develops cost-effective menus that maintain nutrition integrity and meet all local, state, and federal guidelines, and regulations.
8. Develop cycle menus that meet meal pattern requirements for all programs. 9. Conduct nutrient analysis to ensure menus are compliant and meet all local, state, and federal regulations.
10. Create final display menus with nutrient analysis for all programs.
11. Maintain and utilize MealsPlus Back of House (BOH) menu planning system to generate ingredients, recipes, menus, nutrient analysis, and production records.
12. Engage in recipe development, product research and taste tests.
13. Secure, review, and maintain record of all product labels including whole grain, CN or Product Formulation Statement and food labels.
14. Maintain thorough knowledge of USDA Child Nutrition Programs.
15. Communicate with program directors, nurses, and food service staff to receive clarity information contained on medical meal accommodations and dietary meals specifically for allergies.
16. Compile documentation for yearly administrative reviews including food labels, recipes, menus, dietary accommodation documentation and production records.
17. Works with program staff, teachers, parents, and physicians to plan menus for children with special nutrition needs.
18. Develops procedures to ensure the food production system provides safe nutritious food of high quality.
19. Ensures operational procedures for efficient and effective food production and distribution.
20. Develops production records that meet all local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations.
21. Implements a cost-effective procurement system.
22. Develops purchasing guidelines to ensure purchased food and supplies reflect product knowledge, student preferences, program needs, policies, and nutrition objectives.
23. Establishes standards for receiving storing, and inventorying food and non-food supplies based on sound principles of management.
Requirements:
1. Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment.
2. Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
3. Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks.
4. Demonstrate the ability to:
a. Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers and professionals.
b. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English.
c. Work in a fast-paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.
d. Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
e. Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
5. Demonstrate a working knowledge of all Compass Connections policies and procedures.
