The Engineering Technician (Soft Goods) will support the NBL Operations Contract in Houston, TX.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Utilize technical expertise to design, develop, and manufacture soft goods like fabrics, textiles, or sewn components.
Requires a deep understanding of materials, construction techniques, and quality control standards.
Collaborate with engineers and production teams to ensure products meet specific performance requirements within a given application.
Create technical specifications, pattern making, prototyping, testing materials, and working to ensure accurate production.
Familiar with industrial sewing machines, grommet installation, zippers and various other hardware attachment and closures.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must have 2+ years of recent and related work experience.
DESIRED:
Visualizing and sketching products based on style, use, and utility needs.
Pattern drafting from original sketches and pictures.
Ability to work with various materials including but not limited to cotton, polyester, nylon, biflex (Spandex), wool, and canvas.
Working from existing patterns.
Sewing materials by hand and/or sewing machine, to join, gather, reinforce, or decorate materials.
Cutting materials.
Creation of mockup to test pattern fit.
Altering patterns for custom fit or change after mockup fitting.
Examining and measuring finished articles to verify fit.
Creation of costuming based on historical patterns using advanced level techniques.
Understanding of types of thread and their uses.
Experience in setting hardware including grommets, snaps, zippers, rivets, and buttons.
Monitoring machine operation to detect problems.
Positioning and marking patterns on materials to prepare for sewing.
Advanced level understanding of sewing machine, serger, and personal embroidery machine maintenance and care.
Maintaining an organized and efficient clean work environment.
WORK LOCATION:
This position is located onsite.
This position offers a 9/80 schedule, every other Friday off.
This position may require some travel.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time).
May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
