Job Description:

Our client is a fast-growing digital health company whose mobile app helps millions manage chronic pain without surgery. Their proven approach reduces pain by 68%, prevents 42% of new opioid prescriptions, and helps users avoid more than half of potential surgeries.

You'll lead mobile engineering across multiple product teams, working directly with the CTO to shape technical direction and architecture. Your work will directly impact how millions of people manage their health through technology.

The Role & Impact

Technical Leadership

  • Lead the refactoring of a large React Native app using module federation
  • Guide multiple teams shipping new features every two weeks
  • Build systems that let teams work independently
  • Set architecture standards across the mobile platform
  • Lead the DevOps culture with shared on-call rotation

Technical Challenges

  • Scale app architecture for millions of daily users
  • Design systems for multiple teams to ship independently
  • Maintain performance across diverse mobile devices
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, HITRUST, and SOC 2
  • Build for reliability in low-bandwidth conditions

Your Responsibilities

  • Work directly with the CTO on technical strategy
  • Participate in leadership sessions with VPs and directors and influence their decisions
  • Create technical architecture and implementation plans
  • Guide decisions through reviews and tech discussions
  • Pair up with developers to solve complex problems
  • Participate in technical interviews and planning

Your Background

We're looking for someone who blends technical expertise with leadership ability. You've probably:
  • Built and scaled consumer mobile apps used by thousands or millions of people
  • Made complex architectural decisions that helped technical teams move faster
  • Led technical teams through challenging projects
  • Stayed hands-on while helping others grow

Technical Depth

You should be a React Native, React, and TypeScript expert. A strong understanding of mobile performance, app architecture, and API design is part of your foundational knowledge.

Growth Areas: If you also know Node.js, GraphQL, or healthcare tech - great! If not, you'll have the chance to learn. What matters most is your ability to solve problems pragmatically and help others do the same.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of software development
  • 8+ years building complex consumer mobile apps
  • Deep expertise in React Native and TypeScript
  • Strong track record leading engineering teams
  • Experience with high-scale consumer applications
