The Director is a member of our global Learning and Development team, and reports to the global Chief Learning Officer. The Director interacts with key stakeholders including the regional managing partner, training partners, talent team, HR, and DEI teams. The Director oversees design, development and delivery of learning. The approach should reflect best practices and develop our people to meet internal and external client needs.
The Director will need to observe the learning and development trends in our market, spot potential new requirements from the business and keep our offer to the business up to date. Communicating and showcasing the HL Learn contributions and performance to further build internal and external reputation of Hogan Lovells as an employer of choice in the legal industry is also part of the role.
The Director is expected to operate in a global matrix organization and balance regional and global needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT
Ensures that learning goals and content of HL Learn programs are in line with firms strategic priorities and culture
Aligns the Americas learning offerings with existing competency frameworks taking different career paths and learning needs in various jurisdictions into account
Ensures the quality of in-person and virtual learning programs, as well as online learning for lawyers in the region
Ensures that new tools and processes will be implemented to offer state-of-the-art learning and integrate online learning offering into existing milestone programs, as well as to implement new topics, e.g.; such as sales academy content or "lawyers for the future"
Understands how to build skills and take a multi-generational approach to learning
Promotes L&D internally and externally at various occasions
Collaborates with stakeholders to connect and further develop L&D offerings with the needs of the business
Coaches participants on programs
LEADERSHIP
Supports the career development of the Americas L&D team
Consults with partners and business leaders helping to create solutions and to manage potential leadership cases (team management, resilience, burn-out topics)
Builds trust and effectively communicates with firms management and partners
Adds competency development topics to leadership discussions to support the lawyer of the future
MANAGEMENT
Responsible for budget planning and approval processes
Capacity and headcount management, effective use of resources
Responsible for periodical impact reviews and data-based decisions
Supports our recruitment brand and showcases the regional performance to foster our brand as employer of choice internally and externally

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Ten (10)+ years of relevant learning & development experience in law or a similar professional services firm preferred
Bachelor's degree required; Master's or graduate degree highly desirable
Coaching certificate and experience
Experience in instructional design & learning strategies
HOURS
Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., including one hour for lunch, with additional hours as needed for program support.
The annualized salary range for this position is $285,000 to $300,000 depending on the candidate's overall experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus. In addition, full time employees as well as some part time employees, will be eligible for the firm's fringe benefits as they currently exists.
