Encodia is developing a new generation of protein analysis tools based on single-molecule protein sequencing. Our goal is to make protein analysis easy and ubiquitous by using a novel technology that encodes peptide sequence information in DNA. The DNA can be read by a DNA sequencer, providing a path to breakthrough proteomics research at a scale that is not practical or cost-effective using current technologies.
Encodia is seeking an innovative Assay Integration leader to help create our next-generation protein sequencing platform. This position will be embedded in a cross-functional team of scientists and engineers to drive the creation of cutting-edge protein sequencing assays. The ideal candidate will have an analytical background in chemical biology, protein chemistry and/or molecular biology and an ability to create systems-level solutions for complex assays. A candidate with deep expertise in developing multiomic or other multiplex screening assays will be successful.
Your Responsibilities:
Establish strategy to identify critical assay and system parameters for platform integration
Lead cross-functional teams consisting of scientists (molecular biology, chemistry, and assay development) and engineers to develop and integrate the ProteoCode assay
Analyze and interpret data to troubleshoot and optimize assay performance in integrated assay
Understand, communicate, monitor, and mitigate scientific risks associated with assay integration
Develop, verify, and validate assay reagents and workflows
Other such matters that may be determined by Encodia's management
What you bring to this role:
A PhD in the chemical or biological sciences, or the equivalent, with >10 years of industrial experience developing assays
Track record of systems-level thinking and problem-solving
Background in 'omic or multiomic assay development with a technical foundation in protein chemistry, biochemistry, and/or molecular biology
Quantitative analytical problem-solving skill set with expert knowledge of analytical techniques for characterizing proteins and nucleic acids
Ability to set technical strategy for assay development projects and lead small teams to plan, execute, and analyze experiments
Critical thinking and independence, ability to troubleshoot, solve difficult problems, and improve processes
Mentorship skills and ability to guide junior scientists
Excellent collaboration and communication skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative, and collaborative startup environment
Highly Desirable (optional):
Hands on experience with liquid handlers
Experience with statistical process control (e.g. DoE) and related SW
Familiar with chemical biology, bioconjugation chemistry, and surface chemistry
